The history of My Father cigars is the history of the García family, with José Pepín García as chief, mentor and founder of the company. He began working in a cigar factory in his native Cuba at just 11 years of age. His ‘magic’ hands and much-acclaimed artistry are still legendary. ‘Cigars are my passion,’ García once enthused. ‘It’s not only about the cigar itself. It’s a dream, my dream and the dream of all the Garcías!’
In 2003, José established a small factory in Miami’s Little Havana. Today, My Father Cigars Inc. is amongst the world’s major cigar producers, with its own production sites in Nicaragua and Florida. The Don Pepín García cigar is the first series released by the García family. Today, there are 13 different brands on the market. The original My Father series was created by Jaime García in honor of his father Pepín. García cigars have received several awards from Cigar Journal, and in 2015 the My Father Le Bijou 1922 was voted Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado magazine..
Once cramped inside a tiny facility in Miami, José “Don” Pepin’s My Father Cigars is now a cigarmaking powerhouse, with hundreds of rollers producing great cigars in a beautiful facility in Estelí, Nicaragua. Born in Cuba, Pepin came to Miami and opened small cigar factory called El Rey de los Habanos. His cigars would soon garner numerous high scores within the pages of Cigar Aficionado, and Pepin would eventually expand to Nicaragua with a new facility, as well as fields for growing tobacco. There, Pepin, along with son and daughter Jaime and Janny, produce award-winning brands such as Flor de Las Antillas and My Father, which have both been named Cigar of the Year. Additionally, the Garcias produce a slew of popular brands for clients, including all Tatuaje and L’Atelier cigars as well San Cristobal and La Aroma de Cuba.
