La Aurora was established on October 3rd, 1903 by Eduardo León Jimenes, whose roots in tobacco farming inspired him to create a globally recognized cigar brand. At just 18 years old, Eduardo inherited some land and began with a small team of six employees. Over 113 years later, La Aurora employs over a thousand people and spans all five continents.
Today, La Aurora stands as the oldest tobacco factory in the Dominican Republic. Founded by Eduardo León Jimenes in 1903, the company has grown to become the market leader in its home country and operates in more than 60 countries worldwide. Its renowned brands include La Aurora, León Jimenes, Untamed, Black Lion, Family Reserve, Príncipes, and Imperiales.
The La Aurora Cigar Institute, inaugurated in 2016, is the world’s first educational institution dedicated to the art and culture of cigars. Endorsed by the Tobacco Institute of the Dominican Republic, the Institute offers courses led by distinguished professionals such as Ángel Daniel Núñez and Benjamín Menéndez, imparting knowledge to consumers, sommeliers, and industry specialists alike.
In addition to its leading presence in the Dominican market, La Aurora’s brands are enjoyed globally, with a diverse portfolio of over a thousand references. Recently, La Aurora introduced a new concept, La Aurora Cigar World, which encompasses their non-tobacco offerings including factory tours, the renowned Cigar Institute, the luxurious Fernando León Asensio Cigar Lounge, and the exclusive Rum E. León Jimenes 110 Aniversario, a limited edition Dominican rum blend.
And the story continues to unfold for La Aurora, promising more innovations to come.
