The name Gurkha originated from the Anglo-Nepalese war, where British soldiers gave this moniker to Nepali warriors. The military aptitude of these soldiers so impressed the British that they were officially incorporated into the British Indian Army as a regiment. Their reputation for valiance and unyielding determination became legendary. Roughly in the late 19th century, British soldiers began crafting their own cigars using locally-sourced tobacco, which they named after this highly regarded regiment. This practice continued for over a century. Then in 1989, Kaizad Hansotia established Gurkha cigars as we know it today, expanding its reach and focusing on premium offerings synonymous with exceptional quality. Following the distinguished Grand Age series, the Grand Age II features three handcrafted 6 x 54 Toro vitolas produced at Nicaragua's Las Villas Cigars factory using an undisclosed blend. Each cigar in this series is defined by a different wrapper; exemplified by this edition's Nicaraguan Connecticut wrapper.
