The Montecristo Espada is the first 100% Nicaraguan Montecristo cigar made from tobaccos from all over Nicaragua...and Nestor Plasencia is at the forefront of it all. Known for its premium handmade cigars, Plasencia contributes only the best aged and refined leaves to Montecristo's Grupo de Maestros blending team for this project.

A few years ago, Montecristo's revered blending team, the Grupo de Maestros, came to an agreement with the Plasencia family of tobacco growers that granted them access to their most exquisite leaves. This led to the creation of the Montecristo Espada, a cigar that became renowned for its excellence. So successful was the original blend, the Grupo de Maestros went back to Plasencia's stores and crafted an even more outstanding variety: The Montecristo Espada Oscuro. With this revised edition, the 2010 Jalapa Habano wrapper has been replaced with a vintage Habano Rosado Oscuro.

A few years ago, Montecristo's celebrated Grupo de Maestros made a deal with the Plasencia family to access a wealth of their best tobacco. This agreement led to the production of the acclaimed Montecristo Espada. Its success was such that it prompted its makers to go further and craft an equally outstanding variant - the Espada Oscuro. For this blend, they substituted the Jalapa Habano wrapper from 2010 for an aged Habano Rosado Oscuro, elevating the bar higher than before.
