Swiss-born Sébastien Decoppet ventured to Danlí, Honduras in his early 20s and established connections with renowned cigar makers. Adin Perez of the San Judas Tadeo factory and the Plasencia family were among those he befriended. Under their guidance, Decoppet gained extensive knowledge of cigar blending and rolling. Inspired by this experience, he launched Cavalier Gèneve cigars, with the brand's signature logo suggested by his wife Eylin: a diamond adorned with 24K edible gold leaf incorporated into many of Cavalier's wrappers. In 2021, expanding on Cavalier's Black Series II line, the Black Series II Viso Jalapa version was introduced. This blend is handcrafted at Cavalier's own Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco factory in Honduras. In contrast to the original Black Series II, this extension features a Nicaraguan wrapper made from viso priming sourced from the Jalapa region. The viso leaves are located between seco and ligero primings on a tobacco plant, providing a harmonious balance of strength and flavor for a medium-to-full-bodied smoking experience.
